Introduction

So, you’ve done the research and have made the excellent decision to invest in a pair of  Blundstone Chelsea boots but unfortunately, it’s not always as simple as picking your usual size and assuming everything will be peachy keen. Sizing for all footwear varies and although more often that not, picking your usual size will be absolutely fine, it is not always guaranteed. There is nothing worse than purchasing a new pair of shoes online and being excited to wear them, only to be majorly disappointed when they don’t fit and then have to faff around returning them. In this blog we will take a deep dive into the sizing of Blundstone boots and give you all the information you need to ensure you choose the right size for you. We will also provide a guide on how to care for your Blundstone boots and help you to give them a long and high-quality life for the years to come.

Blundstone Sizing / Fit

AU Vs. UK Sizing

Getting the sizing right is something a lot of Blundstone customers struggle with. There are multiple factors that contribute to this and we will make sure all of them are covered so you have everything you need to find the perfect size for you. Blundstone are an Australian company and therefore, all their boots are marked with Australian sizing on the sole. However, the Australian size for men is the same as the UK sizing so as a man, in theory you can just choose your usual size. If you’re looking at unisex styles as a woman in the UK then you will need to choose a size down from your usual size. So, if you’re usually a UK6, then it is recommended you select a UK5 when purchasing Blundstone boots. It is also worth noting that Blundstone half sizes (UK4.5, UK5.5 etc.) are wider but not longer. So, a size UK9.5 would be a wider fitting size 9, not a longer boot.

Measuring Your Feet

So, you should now know which size  Blundstone boots are the size for you… on paper anyway. The truth is, is that everyone’s feet are different and although the size you have in mind should be the correct size for your feet in theory, this might not necessarily be the case. The best way to find out for sure, is to measure your feet using this step-by-step guide provided by Blundstone which will tell you for definite, what size boots you should be buying. Step one is to find out your foot length. The best way to do this is to stand barefoot on a piece of paper and mark where your longest toe ends. Also, measure your foot length in mm from the back of your heel to the tip of your big toe. Repeat these steps with both feet and use the largest measurement to calculate your Blundstone size from the chart below.

Getting The Right Fit

Once you’ve established what your size should be, your Blundstone boots should fit true to size. Their leathers will stretch and mould to your feet over time but if you prefer a wider fit and a bit more room than select a half size up. To make sure you have got the right size, when trying on your boots, there should be a slight give in the heel and about a quarter inch of space from the tip of your big toe to the front of your boot. When trying them on, make sure you’re standing up with either socks or stockings on that you’d wear with your boots. With repeated use, your Blundstone boots will stretch slightly over the instep of your foot but will never stretch lengthwise. Lastly, the  Classic series are a slightly wider fit than the originals so it could be worth going half a size up in this style. While the  Dress series are a slightly longer fit than any other Blundstone styles resulting in some people going half a size down in this style.

Blundstone Boot Care

First Steps

Right, you’ve figured out what size Blundstones you need, bought a pair and they’ve arrived, hooray! You’ve just made an investment and you want to make sure that investment is worthwhile. A key factor to ensuring it is worthwhile is to make sure your Blundstone boots are well looked after so they live a good life and you get your money’s worth. We’re here to help guide you through caring for your Blundstone boots so they maintain their high-quality for the years to come. Although Blundstone boots have been designed to last and are renowned for their durability and long lives, they still need some TLC to ensure they do live for longer than a couple of years. One of the first steps to consider in caring for your boots, is where to store them. It is highly recommended they are stored in a dry, cool and well-ventilated space away from any source of heat, sunlight or damp which would tarnish/ruin the leather.

Cleaning Leather Boots

In order to clean your leather Blundstones, first remove any caked dirt from your boots with a soft bristled brush (all our Blundstone boots include a  twin pack of brushes for free) or damp cloth and leave your boots to air dry. Keep them away from direct sunlight or any heaters as this will dry out the leather and crack it. Once dried, apply leather polish or  leather cream to the leather. If using polish, apply a small amount to a cloth or brush and rub onto the shoe in circular motions. Wipe away any residue and leave to dry.

Cleaning Suede Boots

In order to clean your suede Blundstone boots, use a suede brush to scrub off any surface stains or dirt. If you are left with any scuff marks, you can remove them with a gum eraser. Simply rub the scuff with the eraser and wipe away the rubber debris. Once clean, apply a waterproof spray on the shoe to help prolong its life. It’s a good idea to waterproof your boots regularly to protect them from staining. If the suede is wet, let it dry naturally prior to cleaning or using cleaning products.

Extra Information

Different Blundstone boots feature different finishes and will need to be treated according to their finish and colour. The  Blundstone Renovating Creams are designed to nourish and condition the leather of your Blundstones but should not be used on suede and should be used on the appropriate colour. It is also important to keep the soles clean as this will help avoid permanent stains and minimise contaminates causing damage to your boots. Never dry your boots by an open fire or artificial heat source as this causes the leather harden, shrink and crack. Always let them dry naturally. Avoid exposing your boots to chemical contamination. Solvents, strong acids and alkalis will do irreplaceable damage to your boots whilst common substances like milk and salt can also be highly damaging. In the event of exposure, clean your boots immediately
