Where did it all start for Dubarry of Ireland?

In 1937 the company was established in a small town called Ballinasloe, in the heart of Galway on Ireland's west coast helping create employment in the area. The skills of the local craftsmen and women gave Dubarry a fantastic reputation for their excellent workmanship in the design and manufacture of their fine leather shoes. As time went by Dubarry began to specialise in the manufacturing of leather moccasin deck shoes, this was inspired by the west coast of Ireland and Galway's sailing heritage.

Sailing Footwear & Clothing

Having produced the leather moccasin deck shoes for decades, Dubarry of Ireland began to export into the UK and European marine trade in the 1970s. They quickly acquired an international status for being the leading brand in performance sailing footwear and still are today. As time went on, they only grew in the area, this is when Dubarry received a license to use GORE-TEX® technology in their footwear. In the early 1990s, the world's first waterproof and breathable leather sailing boot was created called the 'Shamrock'. The sailing range has only grown as the years have gone and today you will find some of the best sailing gear in the market under their Aquatech collection. This collection still uses the leading waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX® technology found in the first Dubarry sailing boot in the 1990s as well as lots of new and exciting features to help bring you high-performing and comfortable sailing gear.

Country Footwear & Clothing

In the mid-1990s Dubarry decided to explore other environments where they felt like they could meet the demands required of footwear, this is when the idea of the Dubarry Galway Boots was first conceived. The Galway leather country boot soon became a must-have for countryside lovers and became Dubarry's flagship product. After many years of success with just concentrating on country footwear, Dubarry decided it was time to expand the collection thus introducing bags, footwear accessories, other leather goods and finally clothing! The clothing range included unique tweeds based on classic Irish tartan patterns and women's shirts all launched in 2007. In 2010 high-performance shooting coats, wax cotton jackets, quilted jackets, knitwear and much more were introduced and are still going strong today with new products released every season to suit all types of needs.
