Dents UK has handmade the world’s finest Dents gloves since 1777. Today, the best traditions of this time-honoured craft are combined with contemporary design and luxury leathers in stylish accessories including driving gloves, shooting gloves and more.
Dents have gained a huge reputation for Hollywood accessories; including Daniel Craig's leather gloves in the Bond film Skyfall and also for luxury coronation clothing, most notably King George VI's gloves and Queen Elizabeth II's gloves.
John Dent established his company in Worcester, England in 1777. Dent's sons, John and William then expanded the business in 1833 with 133 leather craftsmen spread across their two factory locations in Worcester and London. The original methods of cutting, stitching and working the leather are still in use today and still work as well as they ever have.
Dents UK gloves are produced using a variety of luxury leathers, sourced from South America all the way to Africa. The gloves are of the finest quality, with only the best leather including peccary, hairsheep, deerskin and sheepskin & slink lamb.
Each leather has its own unique properties:
Peccary - is naturally smooth and soft, extremely rare qualities sourced from wild hog's hide in South America.
Hairsheep leather - is found mainly in Ethiopia and Nigeria, it has excellent natural elasticity and superior strength compared to most leathers. The sheep leather is sourced from hair instead of wool, hence the name.
Deerskin - like hairsheep, has natural elasticity and high durability but has a grainy texture providing a completely different appearance.
Sheepskin - is a great material for winter gloves, where you need some extra warmth. The leather is used with its natural wool as a liner, which is usually fitted slightly looser than other glove styles.
Slink Lamb - is extremely similar to sheepskin; just lighter and softer.
Both Sheepskin and Slink Lamb are only used in the finest quality luxury gloves from Dents UK due to their rarity and expense.
